The Kauffman Art Gallery, located in The Huber Art Center here on campus, hosts up to nine or more art exhibitions a year. The artists range from nationally known artists to artists right here in Shippensburg.
The Gallery right now is delighted to be having “Form and Surface: Recent Work by Steve Dolbin”.
All of the artwork in the exhibition are pieces inspired by Professor Dolbin’s research of ancient tribal tools and pictures. There are 16 amazing pieces of artwork that look too real to be artwork.
The pieces are all made out of different materials. He used Oiled/Carbonized Sycamore Wood, Oxidized Steel, Raw Birch Wood, Oiled Maple Wood and so much more.
There were fire pits, made to look like there had actually been a lit fire in the middle. A paint set made out of raw ash wood looked all too realistic to not have actually been from the ancient tribal times.
On one of the pieces there is even a small tribal looking picture drawn on to make it even more realistic. Along with a skull and bones being embedded in another piece.
This exhibition will be going on from August 25 – September 24, 2014. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m, Wednesday evenings 6:30 – 8:30 p.m, and Fridays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m
Make sure to keep an eye out for all the interesting and creative art exhibits that are still to come.
