Hello fantasy owners. First things first Cordarrelle Patterson will no longer be featured as a start of any kind on this list for the rest of the season. He has not lived up to the potential we all though he had and is making many of us get unnecessary headaches. With that being said now let us get the starts/sits for week 11 of the NFL.
Top 5 Starters for Week 11
1. Andrew Luck-Fantasy Start of the Week
Andrew Luck is the fantasy MVP for many owners right now. His play just seems to elevate each time he gets on the field. Luck has thrown for more than 300 yards or at least 3 touchdowns in every game this season. That is a nice trend to have in a QB if you’re trying to make a playoff run. This week when Luck plays the Patriots he will try his best to do something he has never done before… beat them. That can only help fantasy owners. Through nine weeks Luck has thrown for the most touchdowns (26) and the most yards (3085) of any quarterback. He has played like an actual MVP, and I believe the Patriots defense will help him continue that trend when they play on Sunday night.
2. Frank Gore
Many people had written off Frank Gore as a veteran who was too old and could not get the job done as a feature back in the NFL. He is proving those doubters wrong. Gore rushed for 81 yards on 23 attempts against the New Orleans Saints while also getting into the end zone to score the 49ers first points of the game. He has one of the most favorable matchups of week because he is playing the New York Giants. Big Blue’s defense gave a total of 350 rushing yards to the Seattle Seahawks. 143 of those yards went to Marshawn Lynch along with 4 rushing touchdowns. Gore should be able to thrive against a defense with so many holes to run through.
3. Alfred Morris Alfred Morris has been the heart and soul of the Washington Redskins this season. He is coming off of a tremendous couple of weeks in which he racked up more than 160 yards and three touchdowns. He also has the pleasure of playing against one of the worst defenses in the league. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers has given up eight rushing touchdowns while running backs average 114.1 yards per game against them.
4. A.J. Green
I am not looking for Andy Dalton to have a perfect game after the debacle he had on Thursday night. However I am looking for A.J. Green to show everyone why he is one of best wide receivers in the NFL. Not to mention the Saints’ defense has looked shaky the past few weeks. The Bengals’ offense has to come out and show their poor performance against the Browns was a fluke. The best way to do that is to get the ball into the hands of their best player. The Saints have ninth-worst passing defense, surrendering an average 259.2 per game. I think Dalton will have to get the ball to Green early and often if he wants to get the offense going.
5. Matthew Stafford
I know that Stafford playing against a top defense does not sound too inviting. But now that he has Calvin Johnson back he will have an easier time slinging the ball down field. In the game against the Dolphins, the QB and WR looked as though they had not missed a beat. That combination will be a vital when the Loins take on the Cardinals. Stafford has had great games against the Cardinals in the past thanks to his trusty wide receiver. Stafford will have to watch out for the Arizona secondary led by all-pro cornerback Patrick Peterson. The good news is the Cardinals have the third worst defense against the pass while the Loins are in the top ten in passing offense.
Top 5 Players to Sit for Week 11
1. Drew Stanton- Fantasy Sit of the Week
With Carson Palmer likely out for the year it is now up to Drew Stanton to guide the Cardinal’s offense the rest of the way. This will be Stanton’s first start since he played against the Denver Broncos in Week 5. He will face the Detroit Lions, who boast the number one defense in the NFL. Stanton does hold the key to a very potent offense but he has never fully utilized it to its full potential. In all of Stanton’s games this season he has thrown for less than 250 yards and only has 3 touchdowns. I don’t think he will find much success when goes to face the Lions on Sunday.
2. Ryan Tannehill
Tannehill looked great playing against the San Diego Chargers, but he came down to earth when he played the Detroit Lions. Tannehill completed 27 of 38, good for 207 yards and a touchdown while adding one interception. I would not be surprised to see his play decline when he matches up against the Buffalo Bills this week. To me the Bills are the surprise team of the NFL and that is because of their stellar defense. They have the sixth best defense in the league and are number one in sacks with 34 this year. Tannehill is not the type of quarterback to get the ball out of hands quickly and with the Bills pass rush he will have a hard time trying to make plays.
3. Bishop Sankey
Sankey had tremendous upside at the beginning of the season. The Titans gave him the opportunity to win the starting job for the rest of the season, but he not producing like owners need him to. If you have him most likely you got him because someone else dropped him. Sankey has failed to top the 65-yard rushing mark all season long. It doesn’t seem like he will change that when he faces the Pittsburgh Steelers.
4. Andre Williams
Ever since Rashad Jennings went down, the Giants have been looking for their rookie to step up and take the reins. He has not been able to do that, as New York would like. In his last four games Williams has failed to eclipse the 70-yard mark for rushing yards. Playing against the San Francisco 49ers does not appear to be a breakout matchup for any running back. The 49ers are the sixth-best team at stuffing the run and have allowed only five rushing touchdowns.
5. Marshawn Lynch
After his fantastic game against the New York Giants it is hard to say Marshawn “Beastmode” Lynch will have a bad game. His four-touchdown game is the best of any running back this season. But the Chiefs are no scrubs and they are not the New York Giants. Not only have they have given up the second least points on defense, they have not given up a rushing touchdown all season. It will be tough for Lynch because the Chiefs are at home and they always play their best at Arrowhead Stadium.
