Chambersburg — One of the largest boroughs in Pennsylvania, with a population of more than 20,000 people, may soon get improvements to its traffic signals, according to Herald-Mail Media.
The Chambersburg Borough Council received a $2.2 million federal grant for the project. The council plans to the use the funds to set up communication equipment in order to synchronize the lights, as well as to upgrade the infrastructure.
The first part of the project will include adding the new signal infrastructure, followed by the communication installments.
The council voted against pursuing plans to transform one-way streets to two-way streets in downtown Chambersburg earlier this month.
