As the end of the semester approaches, so does the task of moving out of a place you have called home for the past few months.
Casey Bender, director of residential services for Shippensburg Apartments, urges residents to always read emails sent out so they know what to expect when move-out day is approaching, such as, what to clean. Also, residents should check in at the office to make sure they do not have any holds on their account.
For residents returning in the fall, or new residents to Shippensburg Apartments, a prominent off-campus housing apartment complex – better known as Creekside, Madison and Brookside Court, there are a few renovations and changes to look for. According to Bender, some apartments will be getting tile floors. They are also considering updating some of the kitchen to look more appealing.
One of the biggest renovations is the addition of a gym and a place to tan. The idea was sent out to residents last semester, and has been in the works ever since.
“I can only hope that we will see movement in the next couple of months,” Bender said on when to expect the renovations.
Shippensburg Apartments offer deals and promotions to current residents each year when renewals approach.
“The best known promotion is the renewal rate for students that resign their leases by
Oct. 31,” Bender said.
With this promotion, residents get a discounted rate and sometimes, Bender said, a little something extra. New tenants can find deals and promotions on their app, Ship Apartments. With the app, residents can find a coupon section for local restaurants.
Shippensburg Apartments can offer an alternative living style to those who do not prefer living on campus. On campus housing may feel suffocating or feel like you have given a part of your freedom away, according to Bender. Students do not always have the freedom to choose their roommates, they are supervised by residential assistants and can feel trapped.
“If you live off campus, you have more freedom to do whatever you want and make decisions that you feel are right,” Bender said on making the transition from on-campus housing to off.
