Say goodbye to barefoot summer nights and come on over to the Shippensburg Fairgrounds for Bubba’s Country Music Festival Saturday, Sept. 10.
Scott Brown, better known to Shippensburg as “Bubba”, is back with his second annual country music festival and an even better lineup. This year comprises of Cassadee Pope, Charlie Daniels Band, Chris Woodward & Shindiggin, as well as local talent. Bubba even caught Chris Young during a break in his 2016 world tour schedule, and is including him in the renowned artist lineup.
Since the country music festival is still fresh in Shippensburg, Bubba has had to deal with many obstacles along the way, such as low attendance rates.
“In the music industry we like to give it two, maybe three tries before it goes away or morphs into something different,” Bubba said.
This year, Bubba lowered the ticketing price by $10 and changed the date to a Saturday, rather than a Sunday, in hopes of more success. If all goes well, he plans on continuing to have the country music festival.
To reach an even bigger array of music fans, Bubba is adding a Throwback to the 80’s concert Sept. 9. This event will include performances from Quiet Riot and Skid Row. According to Quiet Riot’s website, they are a rock ’n’ roll phenomenon that became an overnight sensation after their “Metal Health”album debuted in 1983. Skid Row got their fame thanks to their guitarist, Dave Sabo, who was a former member of Bon Jovi and got Bon Jovi’s manager to secure a record deal for them.
Throwback to the 80’s will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Bubba’s Country Music Festival starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Gates open two hours prior to both events. For seating, bring your own chairs and blankets, or purchase deck seating in advance. Coolers are welcomed, but charged a $35 fee and subject to search. There will also be food, games and vendors throughout the fairgrounds.
Tickets are $55 for Bubba’s Country Music Festival, $25 for Throwback to the 80’s and $70 for both days. Meet and greet VIP packages can be purchased at additional costs.
Last year, the festival received more than 50 five star reviews on its Facebook page with multiple comments about looking forward to this year’s show.
