Shippensburg University Campus Police reported the following incidents between Sept. 1 and Sept. 10:
Naugle Hall resident charged with offenses related to drugs and alcohol
University police charged Daniel J. Cook, 18, of Naugle Hall with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, underage drinking and public drunkenness in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 1.
An officer saw two individuals on Adams Drive supporting Cook, who appeared to have difficulty walking. The officer stopped Cook, found he was intoxicated and possessed marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The officer charged Cook and a criminal complaint was filed before a local magisterial district judge.
McLean Hall resident charged with underage drinking
University police charged Tommy Nguyen, 20, of McLean Hall with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 2.
An officer saw Nguyen staggering and having difficulty walking through the G-1 parking lot, being assisted by a friend. The officer found Nguyen to be intoxicated and called an ambulance. The ambulance transported Nguyen to Chambersburg Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. University police filed a citation, charging Nguyen with underage drinking.
Lackhove Hall resident charged with underage drinking
University police charged Krystal M. Barone, 18, of Lackhove Hall with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 3.
Officers were called to assist Lackhove Hall residence staff with Barone, who was acting strangely and appeared to be under the influence. Officers found Barone to be intoxicated in the first floor study lounge.
Barone showed obvious signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol. Officers administered a portable breath test, which showed the presence of alcohol in Barone’s system. A citation was filed, charging Barone with underage drinking. Officers released her to her residence hall room.
Waynesboro resident charged with underage drinking
University police charged Taylor Lynn Guilfoyle, 18, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 3.
Officers saw Guilfoyle walking through the G-1 parking lot with an open bottle of beer. Officers released her at the scene after they received her information. A citation was filed, charging her with underage drinking.
Seavers Hall resident charged with underage drinking
University police charged Shane Joseph Mathis, 18, of Seavers Hall with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 3.
Officers saw Mathis struggling to walk in the area of Seavers Hall. Officers stopped him and found him to be intoxicated. He showed obvious signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol. A portable breath test indicated the presence of alcohol in his system.
Mathis had a small cut on his knee, but officers determined he did not need medical attention and released him to his residence hall. A citation was filed, charging him with underage drinking.
Seavers Hall resident charged with possession of drug paraphernalia
University police charged John Connor, 18, of Seavers Hall with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 3.
An officer near the chiller plant off of Adams Drive saw Connor and four other individuals run into the woods. They were eventually detained and the officer found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside Connor’s backpack. The officer confiscated the contraband and held it for evidence.
Connor was released at the scene and a criminal complaint was filed before the local magisterial district judge, charging Connor with the offenses listed above.
Seavers Hall resident charged with underage drinking in G-1 parking lot
University police charged Shane Joseph Mathis, 18, of Seavers Hall with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 3.
An officer observed Mathis walking through the G-1 parking lot carrying an open can of beer. Mathis attempted to conceal the can of beer in his pants when he saw the officer, who stopped him.
The officer found additional alcohol in Mathis’ backpack. The alcohol was confiscated and Mathis was released to return to his residence hall. A citation was filed, charging Mathis with underage drinking.
Waynesboro minor charged with underage drinking
University police charged a 17-year-old Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, resident with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 3.
Officers stopped the minor walking through the G-1 parking lot carrying an open can of beer. The minor was taken to the University Police Department, where he was held until his father picked him up. Police issued the minor a citation for underage drinking.
Bangor resident charged with underage drinking
University police charged Samantha Julia Ennico, 19, of Bangor, Pennsylvania, with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 3.
An officer was assisting another officer with an incident in the G-1 parking lot when a woman fell in front of him. The officer approached her to check on her welfare, finding her to be intoxicated.
The woman, identified as Ennico, showed obvious signs of intoxication and was given a portable breath test. The breath test showed the presence of alcohol in her system. The officer released Ennico to her friends to return to her residence. A citation was filed, charging her with underage drinking.
Naugle Hall resident charged with underage drinking
University police charged Alec M. Mertz, 18, of Naugle Hall with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 4.
Officers were dispatched to the second floor of Naugle Hall for a report of an intoxicated man unconscious in the hallway.
The officers found Mertz to be highly intoxicated and called an ambulance. The ambulance transported Mertz to Chambersburg Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. A citation was filed, charging him with underage drinking.
Chalfront resident charged with underage drinking
University police charged Matthew Joseph Smith, 19, of Chalfront, Pennsylvania, with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 4.
Officers saw Smith carrying an open can of beer in the G-1 parking lot. The officers stopped Smith, confiscated the beer and disposed of it. A citation was filed against Smith, charging him with underage drinking.
Kieffer Hall resident charged with underage drinking
University police charged Tanner Sage Amsley, 18, of Kieffer Hall with underage drinking in connection with an incident that occurred Sept. 10.
Officers were dispatched to Kieffer Hall for a report of an unresponsive man passed out in the first floor hallway. The individual was identified as Amsley, who officers found to be intoxicated. Amsley smelled very strongly of alcohol, and vomited on the floor when he woke.
An ambulance transported Amsley to Chambersburg Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. A citation was filed, charging Amsely with underage drinking.
