APSCUF coaches and faculty have made additional steps toward obtaining a new contract after approving their agreements for ratification, according to an APSCUF news release.
During the Dec. 5–8 voting period, 94 percent of faculty members voted in favor of the deal negotiated between APSCUF and the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). 100 percent of the coaches who voted approved of their agreement.
In light of the union’s vote of approval, the PASSHE Board of Governors is scheduled to meet in Harrisburg on Dec. 20 for a vote of its own in order to move the process closer to completion.
APSCUF President Kenneth Mash, in an APSCUF news release, said the union’s faculty and coaches will continue to advocate for their students and look forward to having this process behind them.
The union’s vote follows more than a year of the state universities’ faculty operating without a contract; culminating in a three-day, statewide faculty strike in late October.
APSCUF said they will be posting the full contract on its website after ratification is fully complete.
