Last week a federal judge heard the merits of a case involving President Donald Trump’s financial records and the House representatives who attempted to obtain them. Trump unlawfully decided he would challenge the Democrats, who wanted to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch. This is not expressly authorized in the United States Constitution, but is implied through the enumerated powers.
President Trump refused to comply with the request. He, and his minority who want to delete the constitution, lost.
United States District Judge Amit Mehta stated the following in his ruling:
“Congress plainly views itself as having sweeping authority to investigate illegal conduct of a President, before and after taking office. This court is not prepared to roll back the tide of history.”
The ruling clearly means that President Trump and his minority must turn over the financial records to comply with the House of Representatives and their investigative powers. If the White House refuses to do so, then the House should stop stalling and impeach this rogue president.
The Constitution won, and President Trump lost.
Certainly they will appeal the ruling, however what is clear is that the judicial branch of the government will not play games with a document more sacred than the Trump family brand. After all, the Constitution begins with “We the People,” not “Me the President.” We must never forget the oath a President takes is not to himself, but to the people of the republic.
Donald Trump is not a normal president, and at this point it would be a lie to attempt to say that this because he has never served in government before. Donald Trump was handed everything: A booming business, an economy back from the brink, and as we saw from the Mueller report, the Presidency of the United States by a hostile regime. Now, he is attempting to remake the nation, and its laws.
What Donald Trump wants most is for the American people to forget the Constitution, and its words that continue to speak to the nation “We The People.” “We the People” cannot allow for a backwards-thinking business-failing political saboteur to take the nation backwards.
