On Friday the Shippensburg volleyball team hosted the first of three games at Heiges Field House during the weekend.
The Raiders took on Bentley University (3-5 NE10). The Falcons claimed the first set 25-21. The Falcons had 14 kills, 2 team errors and 34 total attempts. The Falcons had a kill percentage of 0.353% in the first set. The Raiders (3-6 PSAC) had 13 kills 4 team errors and 34 total attempts. The Raiders had a 0.265 in the first set.
The Falcons claimed the second set 25-17. In the second set the Falcons would have 10 kills on 34 team attempts. The Falcons committed 2 team errors and a kill percentage of 0.235 %. The Raiders had 13 kills on 42 team attempts. The Raiders had a kill percentage of 0.071% in the second set.
The Raiders responded in the third set by winning 29-27. The Raiders had 15 kills in 47 attempts. The Falcons had 12 kills in 46 attempts and had nine team errors. The Raiders had a kill percentage of 0.065%.
The Falcons would claim the fourth and final set to beat the Raiders in four sets. The Falcons won the fourth set 25-20. The Falcons had 14 kills on 37 team attempts in the final set. The Raiders had ten kills in 37 attempts. Freshman outside hitter Hope Leavy Gaskins led the team in kills with 12 in the match. Redshirt sophomore Alex Leitner had the most digs in the match with 19.
The Raiders would rebound Saturday with a win 3-1 win over Queens College. The Raiders captured the first set 25-13. The Raiders had nine kills in 30 attempts. The Knights (1-6 ECC) had 7 kills on 36 attempts.
The Knights rebounded and won the second set 25-22. Queens would have seven kills on 36 attempts. The Raiders produced 12 kills on 35 attempts. The Raiders would bounce back after falling in the second set and win the third and fourth sets to win the match. The Raiders had 46 kills in the match and ten aces.
The final game of the weekend the Raiders would take on Thomas Jefferson University. The Rams (10-0 1-0 CACC) defeated the Raiders 3-2 in five sets. The Rams took the first set 25-22. The Rams had 12 kills in 26 attempts in the set. The Raiders had 11 kills on 26 attempts in the set.
The Raiders won the second set 27-25. The Raiders had 13 kills in 33 attempts in the set. The Rams had 17 kills in 37 attempts in the set. The Raiders would win the fourth set 25-18. The Raiders had 9 kills on 43 attempts. The Rams had 14 kills with 47 attempts.
The match would be decided in a fifth and deciding set. The Rams would win the fifth set 15-9. The Rams had 7 kills with 21 team attempts. The Raiders had four kills in 20 attempts in the final set.
The Raiders had a total of 50 kills, 73 digs and eight aces in their final match of the weekend on Saturday. The Raiders travel to Chestnut Hill on Tuesday to face the Griffins.
