The PAGE Center has enlisted Miller Hoffman as its new director, who finds the job to be fitting due to their experiences and passion for prevention education.
Miller, who identifies as queer and gender queer, has survived decades of living in a culture that has had difficulty with respect and appreciation. Thus, Miller aims to empower and help create a safer space of support but also playfulness.
The PAGE center holds regular programs and events on campus. Currently, with International Women’s Day and Sexual Assault Awareness Month on the horizon, the PAGE Center is planning to hold a sexual assault awareness panel for the community to come together and discuss the topic.
Furthermore, the PAGE Center continues to build relationships and network both on campus and in the local community to support students from all walks of life.
However, Miller suspects that cultural and systemic hurdles from state and local municipalities will provide difficulties but aims to combat such hurdles — namely, laws that may affect gender neutral bathrooms, transgender participation in sports and laws that would prevent transgender youths from accessing gender-affirming care.
Finally, Miller announced that the PAGE Center looks forward to the programs prepared for the semester and is excited to welcome anyone who would like to engage with them or their community as either an ally or simply as a comrade and friend.
The PAGE Center can be found on the second floor of the CUB in Rooms 230 through 233.
