The Activities Program Board (APB) held its annual Build-a-Buddy event at the CUB on Feb. 4. The event involved a Build-a-Bear-style workshop, at which students take the plush skins of stuffed animals such as dogs, elephants and dolphins and fill the plush skins with cotton stuffing.
Students then got a blanket for their new toys and a certificate for their stuffed animal’s name. More than 200 students attended the event.
The materials for the event were purchased by the APB from Teddy Mountain, a DIY plush toy business.
“We’ve been doing this event for a couple of years, but it was always teddy bears and tie-dye. But this year, we wanted to switch it up,” APB member Alexis Chordas said. “So, this year we’re doing teddy bears and blankets.”
“If you are going to pay thousands of dollars, you might as well get a stuffed animal out of it,” student attendee Sophia Smith said. “I feel that APB events are on the weekend sometimes. That’s also coming from someone who doesn’t go out a lot, and when there’s nothing else to do. So, it’s kind of nice when there is something to do.”
