1. Alexander Stewart
Stewart is a Canadian pop singer and started posting covers on YouTube in 2015. Since then, his following has just continued to grow on the platforms he is on. His newest release is “I wish you cheated,” a ballad of not being able to get over someone he loves and wishing they would have cheated so that he has a reason to hate and get over them. He went on his first tour this past summer, opening for Charlie Puth. My favorite songs by him are “Leave me in the dark” and “House of cards.” It is very hard to choose between the two.
2. ‘Huddy’ (Chase Hudson)
‘Huddy’ is an American rock singer. I was hesitant to put him on the list, given this artist gets so much hate. Personally, I really enjoy his style and voice. They match perfectly, which is sometimes hard to find in artists. He released his first song in 2021, “The Eulogy of You and Me.” My favorite song is, “All the Things I Hate About You.” I think if people would judge him by his music and not by his TikTok presence, then others would agree he is talented.
3. Stevie Howie
Considering his discography consists of seven songs, it makes sense why he is not heard of. Howie is an American rock singer and released his first song in 2021. Howie often sings about topics that generate angry emotions, but when accompanied by the rock music, it offers a nice blend between lyrics and instruments. His newest release is also his best, “Lovely liar.” He has over 300,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
4. Evie Irie
Irie is an Australian pop singer who kind of reminds me of Olivia Rodrigo in a way to best describe her style. She has a touch of punk to her songs that surprises the listeners with not being able to expect what her newest releases will sound like. She released her first EP, “5 weeks in LA,” in June of 2019. She currently has 90,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Her song “The Optimist” is by far my favorite.
5. Ivy Adara
Adara is an Australian pop singer and songwriter. Her first song released back in November 2017. She currently has 130,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Adara performed as a contestant on Australia’s “The X Factor” in 2016. Since then, she has released many songs and have written for other artists. Her unique lyrical ability adds character to her music and sets her apart from the rest.
6. Zach Hood
Hood is an American alternative rock singer. He has 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, gaining most of his recognition from TikTok. He can captivate such a raw emotion into his music, which is his strong suit. “Never knew a heart could break itself” tells the emotion of how hard it is to move on from someone you love and being heartbroken. His songs have an honest touch to them that makes the listener relate to because of the realistic nature.
7. Chandler Leighton
Leighton is an American pop singer who was a contestant on Season 14 of “American Idol.” She released her first song in 2020. She currently has a monthly listening of 1.2 million on Spotify. Leighton often sings about a toxic person in her life or negative emotions of a relationship. When she releases a song, I always know it is going to be excellent because of her ability to pour her heart out in her lyrics.
8. Sara Kays
Kays is an American pop singer that has been coming out with music since 2018. I am drawn to her music because she has a special talent of being able to tell a story with her lyrics. Every song feels very personal in its own way. She has 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, as she deserves. Most of her songs use only an acoustic guitar and a drum here and there. In “Traffic Lights,” she tells the story of falling out of love with someone and how painful that is. Her TikTok presence has helped her fanbase grow.
9. Jessie Murph
Murph is an American alternative singer. Her first song came out in the beginning of 2021. Her music falls under the country, rock and pop genres. Murph has such a distinct voice and sound that makes her identifiable when listening. “Sobriety” is on my playlist. She speaks so freely about her sobriety and the struggles of staying sober. She has 7.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
10. Jamie Bower
Bower is an English actor who plays the villain Vecna in “Stranger Things,” but he is also a singer. His music only has the recognition of nearly 157,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. He has such a deep voice that when meshed with music, and it creates a pleasant listening experience. He only has five songs available on Spotify, but he has more covers available on YouTube. Seeing that he is a full-time actor, he does not have a lot of songs released because music is not his focus. In his song “Paralysed,” I enjoy the way the lyrics can be perceived in different ways.
