This summer, my family and I took my grandma on a road trip to Montana to see her childhood best friend. While we were out there, she took us to a few of her favorite places to visit and photograph wildlife.
The bison range is located on the Flathead Indian Reservation. At the beginning of 2022, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes assumed complete management over the nature reserve. It is home to a variety of species, some of which I was able to photograph. My favorite to photograph were the bison, especially when a bison stopped to lick right in front of the car.
While at Glacier National Park, we spent two days driving around and stopping at various places for the scenery and the wildlife. There is only one way through the entire park called Logan’s Pass also known as the Going to the Sun Road. Due to the high altitudes and tremendous amounts of snow during the winter, there was still some snow on either side of the roadway that had been plowed off to get the park open. The photos of the fox and ground squirrel are my favorite ones I have taken. The little ground squirrel had wandered out of the brush while I was trying to watch the red fox climb down the embankment and stood up looking for the fox, too.
