“You’re Next” from director Adam Wingard (V/H/S, A Horrible Way to Die), is an average home-invasion/murder-a-nice-family horror flick on the surface. After stripping away the basic plot, you get a pretty entertaining black comedy that is more enjoyable than developing anything that terrifies.
David Twohy’s “Riddick” is an attempt at reviving the Riddick franchise that received some modest acclaim from the film “Pitch Black” and the video game “The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay”. The film does a good job of bringing the brooding antihero back into the spotlight, but not in any way that will pull in new fans to the Riddick universe.

Stephenie Meyer really needs to find a new wheel house. Is it really “Twilight” all over again? Not quite, thankfully.
Not since the likes of “Die Hard,” “Predator” and my personal favorite, “Rambo,” have we seen a good “old-fashioned” action film. Many have tried to bring back the old action franchises and in almost every case, they have failed to bring back the magic of old.
You know what grinds my gears? Time.
