Self-described as “power-chord nostalgia,” Telecine is a four-man indie rock group from Boulder, Colorado. The members — Filip Casey, Owen Helfer, Andras Szalay and Ethan Patel — originally started making music together earlier this year after they realized each of them knew how to play the instruments that traditionally form a band — bass, guitar and drums.
It all started with a guitar for Lyle Kam. Music had always been a part of his life, and the old, classical guitar just existed in his home until he decided to give it a go. After learning the basics, Kam wanted to create his own music. “I thought ‘maybe I could try doing music, and posting it on YouTube,’” Kam said.

As we enter the seventh week of the semester, the Student Government Association (SGA) has continued to move forward cultivating prosperous environments, which include intentional relationship building, both internally and externally among our campus community.
The Women and Gender studies program held a presentation in Stewart Hall addressing sexist barriers in the workplace featuring Dr. Amy Diehl and Dr. Leanne M. Dzubinski, authors of Glass Walls: Shattering the Six Gender Bias Barriers Still Holding Women Back at Work.
Michelle Foreman, Shippensburg University Dean of Libraries, promoted the various services the library provides during the Oct. 12 public meeting of the Student Government Association. Foreman encouraged students to meet with library faculty for help with research, finding books and interlibrary loans.
Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, was removed from office on Oct. 3 by a motion to vacate proposed by Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida. The final vote stood at 216 for removal and 210 for retention. McCarthy’s removal stands as the first and only time that a speaker of the House of Representatives was removed from office.

When I was thirteen, I developed an eating disorder. I was in middle school and deeply insecure at the time, so I found myself turning to dieting and fitness trends to fit in better with my classmates. While it started with moderate exercise and eating healthier, it quickly became an obsession that turned into skipping most meals and eating less than 800 calories a day.
Singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers released her second album “Punisher” on June 18, 2020. More than three years later, the album still makes an impact. It is the perfect record for the days leading up to Halloween, as it has an otherworldly feeling to it.

Shippensburg students and faculty gathered in Orndorff Theatre to listen to Ali Sina Sharifi share his experiences as a child growing up in U.S.-occupied Afghanistan, a presenter on Afghanistan television and as a student at Shippensburg on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m.
