Get Booked: ‘Verity’

If you liked “The Housemaid,” you’re going to love “Verity” by Colleen Hoover. Despite Hoover being a controversial author, she completely delivers with this novel. I often read Hoover’s books whenever I am in a book slump and cannot find the motivation to read anything.

J. Cole releases possible final double-album, “The Fall-Off”

Jermaine Cole has spent years teasing his album “The Fall-Off,” and the North Carolina rapper, lyricist and producer finally released the sprawling, 24-track double album he said was “made with intentions to be my last” in a Dreamville social media post announcing the tracklist.

Some of the best books I have ever read are the ones that I find unexpectedly. For instance, I normally go to the bookstore to look for a specific book that I know I already want, but then it turns out with me purchasing three other books I have never even heard of.

My brother had told me to watch the show “Daisy Jones & The Six” on Prime Video. He caught me on a night that I had nothing to do and a time when I had no new shows to watch other than my comfort shows I re-watch a million times.

‘PONIES’ Review: Spies, secretaries and a whole lot of secrets

Set during the Cold War, “PONIES” stars Emilia Clarke as Bea and Haley Lu Richardson as Twila. The women live in the USSR with their husbands, who work for the CIA. After their husbands die in a mysterious plane crash, the pair decides to return to Russia to find out what really happened to them.

The coming-of-age story follows a freshman boy named Charlie who is struggling with mental health and making new friends. He meets seniors Patrick and Sam, who are stepsiblings, and they take Charlie under their wing and introduce him to all their friends.

SU’s Fall Brass Ensemble Concert: A Dedication to Student Musicians

On Nov. 2, the Shippensburg University Brass Ensemble held its annual Fall concert in Old Main Chapel. The fast-paced program made for a perfect Sunday afternoon performance and showcased a variety of genres and difficulty levels, from the dreamy melodies of David Marlatt’s “Earthscape” to Joseph Zawinul’s rhythmically energetic “Birdland.”

If you have a service job, then you might be interested in the book “Pick a Color,” by Souvankham Thammavongsa. It is about a woman named Ning who owns a nail salon and has a special relationship with her employees, and they all wear name tags labeled “Susan.”

Get Booked: ‘Legend’

All it takes for me to fall in love with a book is a good government corruption plot with a violent, evil leader and a female heroine who falls in love. I loved “Legend” by Marie Lu because of this.
