SU Students await refunds amid delays in PA State Grant roll-out

As Shippensburg University nears the end of the fall 2024 semester, some students are still waiting for their financial aid to come through. The PA State Grant, administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), has seen several rounds of delays. As of Monday morning, 456 students have yet to receive their grant money.

Simuelection 2024: Thompson v. Arnold

It is safe to say that the 2024 presidential election has come and gone. But dozens of Shippensburg University students are not quite done with the political process. Members of the Political Science and Communications, Journalism and Media departments have spent the last few weeks acting as candidates, campaign staffers and political consultants in the 10th biennial Simuelection.

Council of Trustees hear from enterprising students

Five students presented their work in various business and entrepreneurial organizations before the Shippensburg University Council of Trustees at its second meeting of the semester on Nov. 17. Don Nori, who serves as the director for the Diller Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation, introduced the speakers.

Students and staff remember Holocaust victims with traveling exhibit

Ezra Lehman Memorial Library hosted the official opening of the international traveling exhibition “Names Instead of Numbers” to honor and remember the victims of the Holocaust on Nov. 14.  Action Reconciliation Service for Peace (ARSP) displays the names and stories of victims who were part of the 202,000 prisoners taken into the Dachau concentration camp between 1933 and 1945. Through these exhibitions, ARSP shares biographies of the victims.

 There is nothing funnier than a comedy of errors, and there are plenty of errors to be found in the recent production of “The Play That Goes Wrong.” Let it be known that when it comes to this show, I mean that in the best way possible.

Salsa lesson is a smashing success

Jose Ricardo-Osorio, the associate dean of the College of Education and Human Services at Shippensburg University, directed a salsa class in the Ceddia Union Building (CUB) on Friday evening.

SU holds the fall SIS fair

 Shippensburg University hosted its bi-yearly Student Involvement and Services (SIS) Fair on Friday afternoon after classes. The event drew a large crowd of interested students from a variety of backgrounds, from traditional to non-traditional, first-year students to graduate students.

Students raise awareness for organ and tissue donation

Every nine minutes, someone is added to the organ donor waitlist, and more than 100,000 people are waiting for a lifesaving transplant, according research by Tyler Hill, Siobhan Sungenis and Connor Wambold.

MESA holds annual Cultural Fusion Fest

The Multi-Ethnic Student Association (MESA) held its annual Cultural Fusion Festival in the Tuscarora Room in the Reisner Dining Hall on Saturday, April 4. MESA was created for students who come from multiple different ethnic backgrounds and to raise awareness of multi-cultural SU students.

APB and Improv Club give students one question: Who dunnit?

Everyone loves a good mystery. Whether you grew up playing Clue or watching “Scooby-Doo” or the teen mysteries of today like “Riv- erdale,” we all enjoy playing detective from time to time. Following their successful Dungeons & Dragons Night, the Activities Programming Board has provided students another event for students to take on new personas. Those personas were 20 possible murder suspects. However, things also got retro as the night’s theme was “Totally Rad ’80s Prom Gone Bad.”

No-Sew T-Shirt Tote

The Green League is known for its recycled craft events, and you may have seen club members tabling with some of their most recent projects. Club members gather to make jewelry out of found and recycled items like plastic bags, stones, soda can tabs and guitar strings to help fundraise for their club’s efforts.
