James Barnhart gives insight on working abroad

James Barnhart, a Carlisle native and graduate of the University of Chicago, presented a speech at Shippensburg University titled “Working in Asia and Europe: Rewards and Risks,” which focused on the positive and negative aspects of working abroad.

SU names interim president

George F. ‘Jody’ Harpster will serve as Shippensburg University’s temporary president beginning May 31, according to a press release from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). PASSHE’s Board of Governors made the decision for Harpster’s position April 11. SU began the search for an interim and new president after current SU president William Ruud accepted an offer as the next president of the University of Northern Iowa.

SU alumnus promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

On Monday, April 1, professor of military science (PMS) and Chair of the Military Science department at Shippensburg University, Matthew Sober, was officially promoted from the rank of Major to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in front of his wife, family, faculty and Cadets of the Raider Battalion.

Three residence halls demolished; Seavers next

Phase 2 of Shippensburg University’s new student housing project is well under way, with three residence halls demolished in the last several weeks and still another to be torn down this spring. The second phase kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony on Feb.
