The hassle of online textbooks

When I sit down every night to do my homework I like to have a book in hand. Call me old fashioned, but I feel like I will retain more knowledge from reading an actual book, than I will staring at a computer screen. That is why I cannot understand why it is that people prefer online textbooks. I understand that they are environmentally friendly, and all.
