How Far a creative mind can carry you in life

When I was little, creativety came easily. All I asked to recieve for Christmas, my birthday or even Easter was paper, colored pencils, crayons and markers. All I ever wanted to do was draw, color and write. When little, children make up imaginary friends, events that happen and stories in their heads. I see this all the time with my three nephews. But why do we lose that? Obviously we do not walk around with imaginary friends that get us in trouble like in the movie, “Drop Dead Fred,” but you get the picture.

The city that sleeps

Shippensburg is the city that sleeps. The meager excitement lasts from a few hours after sunrise to a couple hours after sunset every night.

Reisner Dining Hall is not a take out food restaurant

Last week my friend and I joined each other for lunch in Reisner Dining Hall. She got two bananas and an apple to enjoy when we heard someone’s voice say, “Excuse me, Miss?” It was a man who works in Reisner, calling for my friend’s attention to tell her that the food on our table could not leave the buidling.

Haven't rape victims been punished enough

Former SU professor is no Nostradamus

Dr. Richard T. Hise, Professor Emeritus of marketing at Texas A&M University and a former Shippensburg University professor, recently wrote a book titled, “A Christian View of the War Against Islam.” In the book, Hise uses the Bible in an attempt to explain the current conflict in the Middle East and argues that God will eventually resolve the threat of radical Islam.

Campus construction vs. time convenience

We live our lives with the intention to make things as convenient as possible. We drive the shortest and fastest routes and walk the shortest and quickest paths to our destinations. As college students, I know most of us plan the exact amount of time it takes to get from rooms to classrooms, with time to spare.

Clark Kent Quits

Superman’s alter ego is making the front page for a change, and not just in the fictional world of D.C.

Getting along and living with roommates

The hardest transition for me when I came to college was learning to live with someone. I have never shared a room with a sibling at home, and I expected the worst. I have a very strong personality and if you do not mesh with it, problems tend to occur; but I am very kind and honest. I like to think of new things and beginnings as something great.

Ship Is It

Joining the communication/journalism department at Shippensburg University was the best decision I have made for myself. Throughout my life I have always wanted to be a writer.

Pay it Forward: Break free of the cycle of selfishness

“Give yourself entirely to those around you. Be generous with your blessings. A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal,” a quote by Steve Maraboli. About a year ago, I was in a discussion regarding misconceptions about college students, particularly self-misconceptions.
