Cam Newton wins MVP: falls short of ultimate goal
Cam Newton was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player on Feb. 6th, one day before playing the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. Ever since the Carolina Panthers drafted Cam Newton back in 2011, there have been a large number of both critics and fans who have questioned whether or not Newton could be the face of a franchise and lead a team to a championship. Newton dazzled fans everywhere as he and the Panthers decimated the NFL this season.
Golden State Warriors: proving the doubters wrong
Despite having the best record in the NBA and winning the NBA Finals last season, many critics and fans questioned whether the Golden State Warriors and current league MVP Stephen Curry were truly as good as advertised last season. Despite finishing the regular season with a franchise record 67 wins and 15 losses, people were still skeptical of the Warriors and, more specifically, Steph Curry, due matchups in the playoffs.

Men’s basketball playoff hopes take a shot in loss at Millersville
The Shippensburg University men’s basketball team fell Wednesday night to their rivals the Millersville Marauders, despite a solid night from junior Jay Hardy the team wasn’t able to pull out the win in a pivotal league showdown. Shippensburg was only down by one point in the first half 35-34 thanks in large part to Hardy.
Women’s basketball moves closer to playoff berth
The Shippensburg University women’s basketball team defeated the Mansfield Mounties this past Wednesday 64-49, thanks in large part to a balance attack by the starters who were all able to score in double figures Wednesday night. The victory ensured that the Raiders will finish the season at or above .500 in the conference since the PSAC began counting the league games in 2011. The Red Raiders (15-9 and 11-7 PSAC East) were lead in scoring by Senior guard Logan Snyder and Senior forward Morgan Griffith who each had a team high 14 points.
Men’s basketball uses explosive second half to take down Cheyney
The Shippensburg University men’s basketball team defeated the Cheyney Wolves 89-82 Saturday for its second straight win, capitalizing on a 56-point second half and a season-best 9-of-19 from 3-point range. The Red Raiders (10-8, 6-8 PSAC East) saw five players score in double figures on the night.
