Act V ‘awakens’ SU minds

The bold, thought-provoking, rock musical “Spring Awakening” graced the stage of Memorial Auditorium while pushing many limits and sending a serious message. Shippensburg University’s theater group Act V Productions presented the eight-time Tony award winning musical in five shows over this past weekend.


Rivalry sparks within Greek Life: Greek Week brings sororities and fraternities together for five days of competition

The stakes were high this past week within Greek Life at Shippensburg University, as fraternities and sororities competed for the coveted slot of Greek Week champions. Banners could be seen all around the Ceddia Union Building (CUB), representing each organization as well as the theme for 2016, “Welcome to the Jungle.” Fraternities and sororities participated in a number of games that kicked off on Sunday, April 3.

Jumping at exciting opportunities while also stepping outside of her comfort zone, Shippensburg University junior Stephanie Arcadia is always ready for new experiences to be presented to her. Arcadia is a psychology major with a human communication minor.

Greek Life is no stranger to the public eye, nor is it uncommon for people to read stories with negative characteristics surrounding them. A University of Alabama sorority, Alpha Phi, was criticized for a salacious recruitment video objectifying women and not acknowledging any values.

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness month and on Tuesday, Oct. 20, Colleges Against Cancer partnered with the Shippensburg University Women’s Center for its annual Breastival in the Ceddia Union Building Amphitheater.
